Vocabulary 101

Logan came and got me tonight saying. "eese", "eese." Well I quickly recognized that he was asking for cheese and ran to the fridge. According to Logan all cheese is not "eese." Visuals please:
Nope not "eese"
Try again!

Here it is "eese"!
All "eese" is not created equal!
Thanks for the vocab lesson Logan!

My friend Jack!

Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams
Originally uploaded by drewm
I have recently discovered Jack Johnson. I have his music playing on my blog, right now! That's right- you like what you hear- go get this CD. I must tell you that I have to thank my friend Lizzy Whitman for introducing me to Jack. (I now refer to him on a first name basis.) I love hearing the music she has on her blog. She has great muscial taste. Similar to mine and all. I had heard Jack's music before from the Curious George Soundtrack, but nothing else. He is fantastic! So, since I had nothing else to blog about I thought I would let you know to check out my new pal-Jack Johnson. Hopefully I will have something more interesting for all you imaginary people that read my blog in a few days!

My Funny Child!

Okay, so I was sitting here typing a reply comment to my last post, Editors Note, and I wrote at the bottom- I speak too much! Sierra, who was watching me type, and while reading it as I wrote it, said- "Yeah! I think you speak too much too!" Too funny! I love my children!

Editors Note:

It has recently been brought to my attention that I did not mention the fantastic help I received in selecting my Son, Logan's, handsome little outfit for Easter. The Editor would therefore like to extend my deepest apologies for this over site and thank Jamie Adams for saving me from putting my Son in a pastel sweater vest, and instead insisting that I put him in this linen blazer. ( I must also mention that my husband also wanted to put Logan in the blazer.) I am also grateful that Jamie and Gina then took both of my children to the ride on toys outside while I purchased Logan's outfit in peace and serenity. I would also like to endorse both Jamie and Gina for picking out all of your children's clothing. They have impeccable taste! Thanks guys you rock!

Tired of Being Sick!

Logan has had a fever for the last 2 days! He is tired, ornery, and whiny. The trifecta of pleasant-ness! All he wants is to snuggle and sleep. This would be fun except that he wants me to be holding him the entire time. This means my house is disgusting, I have dishes piled in the sink, laundry taking over my bathroom, and I will not even discuss the amount of crap I have to vacuum off my floor. But, alas this is what my Mom gig is all about. I turn in my mommy hat for a 24 hour, round the clock, nurses hat. I can not wait for this to be over. I am tired of Logan being sick and tired!

My Quest for Softer Poo!

The last few days I have been on a Quest. I have called everyone I know asking for advice, I have been on the Internet, I have even looked at the dosage and age recommendations on the back of Metamucil. They have all recommended one thing- Prune Juice. Now, many of you have suggested that I use this magical drink on my Son but he would have none of it. For days I have been mixing it with all sorts of liquids. Well, the other day it worked. I have found that a solution of 1/2 prune juice, 1/2 fruit punch works splendidly. And, I am happy to report that I have won! Yesterday Logan had a run of the mill, didn't cry in pain, poo! I have slayed the constipation dragon. Thanks Sunsweet!

Happy Easter!

Campione!

As many of you know my Mom has been training for some time to run the Marathon in Rome, Italy. She ran the marathon last weekend and she FINISHED! I am so proud of her. She not only finished the 26 mile marathon but she did it in 5 hours and 30 minutes. ( As a side note I think Katie Holmes, aka. Mrs. Tom Cruise, ran the New York marathon in 5hr. 30min. too!) The marathon route was amazing as well. They started at the Colosseum and ran past all the major landmarks in Rome. This is a picture that my Dad sent me of my Mom running in the Piazza Navarro, 7 kilometers from the finish. I have no idea how many miles, feet, yards or inches that is, but I could not be prouder. I have watched my Mom accomplish a lot. All I can say is she is amazing. She is truly an inspiration to me and to my whole family. She is my best friend. I love talking to her and I love being with her. I can not wait for her to get back and show us pictures of all the amazing things they did and saw! I am just so proud of my Mom! I had to share! I love you Mom, you rock!

It's Not Easy Being Green!

2007 Toyota Prius

I was excited when Paul brought home this Hybrid Toyota Prius last week. I thought- less $ spent on gas, save the Earth, go organic, start recycling, have my own compose pile. I was very excited about "going green." Well, I must say that this is a weird car to drive. You have to get used to the car "dying" at most stop signs and lights. You push a button to start the car. You have to get used to the engine turning off and on while you are driving. But the best thing that happened was when I was getting onto the freeway ,the first day I was driving it, and noticed this horribly unattractive car in front of me. I thought," I would never drive a car like that, it is so unattractive." I then pressed my gas and proceeded closer, only to discover that it was a Toyota Prius! I must say that after having the car for the week the gas is amazing. We put 300 miles on the thing and it only cost $20 dollars to fill. However, overall I have discovered that I like my SUVs! Maybe I will start a Garden, start recycling, take a shorter shower, or turn up my air. All I can say is- "It's not easy being green"

"Bein' Green" dedicated to my titillating Bro-in-law Jon Ostler. Oh! How I love your Kermit!

Free at Last!

Logan is Weened! It is true. I only nursed this kid for 19 1/2 months. I nursed Sierra for 21 months. This is good, I am letting go- no getting fed up and kicking them off- earlier. I did it about a week ago but didn't want to type anything until it was official. I think I am safe now. I would do a cartwheel if I was ever able to do one. I just want to say it is an amazing feeling to get dressed in the morning knowing you will not have to dress yourself again. That, and regular bras are amazing! Oh, how I love a supportive bra! Happy Happy! Day! Also, Logan has turned into this crazy, funny, get into EV-ER-E-THING kid. He is nutty. I am blaming it all on his father! I can because he is not here to defend himself, and I have this picture as evidence of his I am being silly and I know it face! I love this kid. It is a good thing because I love his Dad too. Wow! That could be awkward!

I Simply Remember.....

Lately I have been thinking of some of my favorite things. I guess I would like to share. Why? For no other reason than to bore you with some interesting facts about myself! I have found in just noticing the things that make me happy, or smile, that it is the little things that make me most happy. Here they are in no particular order:
1. My kids laughing
2. My husband being silly with me.
3. Climbing into bed with freshly laundered sheets
4. The smell of BBQ cooking- oddly I like this more when it is coming from a neighbor's yard!
5. Being the first person to use the shower after I have cleaned it. ( I truly feel clean)
6. The smell of wood burning on a cool crisp morning. ( not a forest fire, just a contained fire :) )
7. Wearing a brand new pair of socks.
8. The euphoria of finishing a scrapbook page. ( this is becoming more rare every day...sigh!)
9. Taking a shower when it is storming outside.
10. Going to Chuys with WAR and visiting friends who have crushes on baby pine trees!
11. Thinking of my Mom running a marathon in Italy this weekend! Go Mom!
12. Spending time with family and friends!
13. The feeling you get right after you cleaned your house- you know it looks like no one lives there for 10 seconds.
14. A candle burning.
15. And I am probley the only person ever in the history of the world to admit this, but I am secure enough to say: I love to be the first person to use the potty right after it has been cleaned.
There, those are just fifteen things that make me happy! There are a lot more! What makes you happy? Think about it. Take care!

Ostler Family Adventure: Birthday Fun!

So for Sierra's Birthday she decided that she would like to go to the State of Texas Fair and Rodeo. However, we did the fair part only. It was worth it and I would recommend it to anyone. It was a lot of fun to watch Sierra and her friend Ashley walk around the fair holding hands and screaming on all the rides, and I mean ALL the rides. They were the only ones screaming on most of them. Highly amusing! The only bad thing was that my camera died long before the day was over. Here are some pictures from the first hour!

Who knew that while at the Texas State Fair you could be in a petting Zoo with a Wallaby?!?

Logan petting the back end of a baby goat! He thought the goats were amazing!

Okay, so while in Texas you can also pet a Zebra- while being eaten by a deer off camera!

Here is Paul, Logan, Ashley and Sierra driving a coach. YEE HAW!

I don't know about ya'll but when you are at a fair you eat Funnel Cake, and Roasted Corn. All I can say is check and double check!

Sierra and Ashley with some cowboys! Well, cardboard cowboys. Those are some mighty pertty ladies!
Well, that sums up the photos but not the fun! I won Logan a huge Elmo doll and Paul and the girls saw some freaky animals with two heads, noses, or bodies, 5 and 6 legs or one eye! Sierra and Ashley rode a ferris wheel for the "first time of their lives." And then we went and ate dinner at Chuck E Cheese. All I can say is it was a blast. It was an amazing Day and I hope that it will be an equally amazing year for Sierra.

Oh Somebody Had a Birthday! .....

I am not sure that I am ready for this Birthday. My Sierra is turning eight tommorow. I can still remember when she was this little 4 year old, petting goats at the Houston Zoo. Sierra is a delight to be around. She is a wonderful helper. She always helps out with her little brother, and he loves her so much. It is wonderful to see him give her a goodnight "kiss" every night when we tuck her in to bed. Their bond is a special one. Sierra is a great friend. I have a part-time job that consisits entirely of scheduling her social events. There is always someone that she needs to play with, call, or write a letter to. She is very busy. Sierra is a collector. If Sierra likes it she must have as much of it, or them as she can. For today we are collecting Webkins, High School Musical Barbies, and Our Generation Doll stuff. Sierra is a great student. Her teachers all adore her, and her classmates love her as well. When I have picked her up from school and the office calls her class, I can hear the chorus of "goodbye Sierra" from across the office! I am amazed at how many kids we run into around Round Rock that Sierra knows because they " go to my school." Sierra loves the "finer" things in life. Her favorite foods are shrimp and lobster! She loves to dress up and design fashions. I am excited and stunned about this year because it is a special birthday. This is the year that Sierra will be Baptized! Sierra is more excited than I am. Sierra is going to wait to be baptized until April so that Paul's parents and my parents can be there. I am so excited that they are going to be able to come for her special day. I know that it means so much to her. It truly seems like yesterday that she came into our family. She is literally the glue that holds this family together. I am grateful everyday that she came into our lives when she did. She is truly our special gift. I knew when I was pregnant that she was a special spirit and she really is. I am amazed that we are entrusted with the joyous task of raising her. She has always been an amazing kid. She has always been able to communicate her needs and wishes. She is a delight to be around. Sierra is funny, compassionate, fun-loving, free-spirited, opinionated, stubborn. Oh, who am I kidding she is a lot like me! Sierra is a beautiful, kind, amazing kid! I just want her to know how grateful I am to be her mom! I want her to know how much her Mom and Dad and Brother love her. She is an amazing kid. Have a Happy Birthday Sierra! We love you!

Black, White and Blue All Over!

Last October Pier One Kids was going out of business and we went everyday to get stuff at 90% off. It was amazing! While there I got this cute comforter for Sierra and also the decorative throw pillows. I also picked up a valance (not yet put up) and a curtain panel that I planned to make a pillow sham out of. The panel didn't work out exactly right so after taking the panel apart, buying more feaux suede, and using the vinyl blue flower centers and fringe from the panel, we managed to create the sham. My friend Melissa came and helped me make it on Friday, and I think it turned out okay. Just don't look too close! Sewing with a sewing machine has always been very intimidating to me so I am trying to learn more about it. I learn best by hands on experience so I thought why not try a pillow! Anyway, just thought you might want to see what I have been working on. Thank goodness it is out of the closet and on the bed- it only took me 6 months!

In Awe

So, I have been thinking a lot lately about Women. Especially the Women that surround me. I have realized that I am surrounded by a lot of Women. By the time I count my family, my friends, church, Sierra's school, - well that is a lot of Women. And I love them all. I am amazed at all of there individual strength, determination, patience, love, kindness, integrity, etc. I have had the experience a lot lately where I have been bowled over by the feeling of awe and amazement that these are the women that I get to spend time with. I love all of you! I am a better wife, mother, sister, friend, and person because of all of you. How amazing all of you are to me. I don't think that we has women think of the impact that we have on others in our lives. I think that sometimes we get caught up in our day to day routines and we forget all the people that we touch. I think that sometimes we as women forget our value. Sometimes we forget our impact, the power that we have to make a change. So, let me say Thank You. Thanks for reminding me that being a women is a wonderful thing. Thanks for helping me want to be better me. Thanks for being my family. Thanks for being my friends. Thanks for being you, and in being you helping me be a better me!
