Magnificent 7!

A few weeks ago, Sierra, had her 3rd grade performance night at school. The theme was "The Magnificent 7" It was about 7 great composers, and to remember some of their great works, and facts about them, they changed the words to tell the history of the composers. It was very cute, and creative. I don't know who wrote it, but it was great!

Sierra had a dancing part. I was going to post the video but it is not cooperating, so it is a no go! She didn't look too happy because she had to dance with a boy that, " did NOT know what he was doing," as Sierra put it. They did a great job though, and she looked really cute!

The best part of the evening came later- when Sierra introduced us to her "boy that is a friend." ( that I think looks very similar to Nathan, and reminds me of Nate at that age!) It was quite hilarious! I was very impressed with their manners:

Sierra came up and said, " Mom and Dad, this is Devin."

Then Devin looked at Paul and I, and said, " It is very nice to meet you!"

We talked for a minute and then he said, " Sierra, would you like to meet my Mom and Dad?" and they were off!

I was like, SERIOUSLY!!, she is in 3rd grade!

It was a cute night and we got some cute pictures. Here are a couple of them!

Sierra, Devin, Olivia, and her teacher, Ms. Pressler!

Sierra and McKay! He is in our ward. As best I can tell, from the stories she tells, they are quite the Missionary Duo in Ms. Pressler's class!

We love ya Sierra, you were Magnificent!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATE!!

My Brother, Nathan, turns 18 today!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATE!!

I have to tell you all, that I really have the greatest Brother ever! He is an amazing Uncle. He would truly do ANYTHING for his Nieces and Nephew. He is kind, and sweet, and thoughtful. He is a girl's dream.... and if any one of the them breaks his heart......

Erin, my Sister, will break their knee-caps....

I will give them a stern stare and a good talking-too!

It's how we roll!

Nate is going to be the greatest Missionary, he has such a strong, sincere testimony of the Gospel. I know that he is going to have a wonderful experience. I can't believe it is only a year away!!

Nate has also always blown me away with his intelligence! That kid knows everything! Anytime Sierra has a question, about anything, she tells me that she,
"HAS TO CALL NATE, HE WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO!!"
Just last week she called him to ask him how best to save an injured frog her and her friend found in the backyard!

He is going to go places, that I know for sure!!

Nathan is also a fantastic writer! He has written some fantastic songs on his guitar, and he also has great singing voice!

In other words my brother, is a Renaissance Man.

We LOVE YA NATE!!
We hope that you had a fabulous day!!

American Idol is DEAD to Me!!!

First, if you have not watched the show, then don't read this post because it contains "info" about last nights show!!!!

American Idol is DEAD To me because of this:

I have NEVER had such dislike towards one human in my life!!! CAN NOT STAND HER!!!! What is going on with American Idol this year, who let her on? and WHO let her into the top 36, is she Paula's pet project? This is RIDICULOUS!!! No one even clapped downstairs when she said she made it!!!

But, Paul did remind me that I was oh so happy for Norman Gental to make it to the top 36- and I am! I LOVED HIM!!! I don't think he will make it far, but I think he is different, fun, likeable, and a good singer. Unlike Paula's Laughing Hyena!!

So, American Idol is dead to me.............

until next week!

What can I say, I'm weak!

Since I Have NOTHING to Blog About....

I thought I would show you some pictures of things I have been working on:

My sewing skillz, and my card making skillz.

Sewing is coming along nicely! I started out just making simple rag quilts and then my friend offered to teach me how to make clothes. I started with Halloween costumes, and then I made the kids pajamas for Christmas, and a matching nightgown for Sierra's American Girl dolls ( this was WAY harder then her dress). And then because I had caught the "WHAT THE H%LL ARE YOU THINKING" bug, I made them each a rag quilt.

SO....when Erin had her baby I thought, "At this point I am a sweat shop in India cranking out these blankets, so I may as well make her some too!"* And I did! I made her some huge receiving blankets ( because I don't know any baby that can be covered with a 12 X 12 square piece of flannel, even if you wrap them so tight you cut off the circulation to their flanges!)

and a rag quilt.( Pretty much my signature piece)

I think they turned out pretty cute!

My card making skillz, I would describe as a love/HATE relationship. I am in a card club where we meet every month and exchange cards. I am in this club more for the awesome ladies and the eating out then the cards, but it has been good to challenge me in that creative arena. Last month our theme was tri-fold and this was my card. I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! Mostly because it was VERY similar to how I imagined it in my head, and things NEVER turn out as nice and tidy as I have them pictured in my head. But that is another topic for another blog.....

* Just as a side note I did not actually feel like a sweat shop in India and I totally wanted to make the blankets!
