A Verry Merry Un-Birthday Party!

Sierra's Birthday is early in March. It usually falls on the week just before spring break, or if she's really lucky Spring Break itself. That being said it is difficult to organize a Birthday Party for her.

This year, a couple weeks after her big day, we invited a few friends over for a Birthday Party get-together.

They "Karaoked"....

They ate Pizza and Cake.....

They watched Freaky Friday...
They talked about BOYS!!!

They told me to leave the room..... ( it was just getting juicy too!)

They had a good time!
It was a Very Merry Un-Birthday Party!
Thanks Rachael, Arianna, and Ashley for coming!

Houston Zoo Spring Break 2010

We had the opportunity to head to Houston for Spring Break! What was going to be a quick 3 day trip, turned into a week long vacation! It was a welcome treat and a BLAST!!

One of the first things we did was take a trip to the Houston Zoo! Everyone was able to be there from the Scovill side. (and yes! I am counting Daniel in there as well) We had a GREAT time! We ended up going in the early evening, and it turned out to be the PERFECT time to be there. All the animals were very active and we were able to see some animals up close, or moving that we hadn't seen before!
Logan and Bailey walking around the zoo!
They are really good friends and love each other dearly!
Logan really wanted his picture taken with the rather unattractive bird "bank."
I don't know why, but he was insistent.
The Lion! I have NEVER been that close to the Lions at the Houston Zoo or any other zoo, and I have been going to the Houston Zoo since I was 8! The lion and lionesses (?) were right next to the glass! It was AWESOME!!!
The Elephant- This is taken with no zoom! He was just that close.
We loved watching him pick up the smallest stick and move it out of his "hay dinner!"
Look at the Giraffe...I love a giraffe!
They always have the the best "wassup" faces!
"WASSUP!!!"
The Sloth! My mom and I fell in love with this little guy. I have never seen a sloth move, but this one was moving all over the place. I could have stood there forever watching him move..and it could have taken forever. Get it- he's a sloth.......
Nathan and Daniel. What to say about the two of you!
I think this picture says it all!
You two helped make this day the funnest, funniest day ever!

We also took the opportunity to ride the train just outside of the zoo. Logan and Bailey are addicted to trains so this was a MUST on our trip to the Houston Zoo! Sierra, Grandma, Nate, and Nate's friend Daniel rode the paddle boats. It made for an awesome detour!
Waiting for the train to arrive, and modeling their I love Trains pins!
I could eat 'um up they are so cute!

Paul and Logan on the Train ride!

Mogee ( Morgan) decided that the train ride was the perfect time for a photo session. So I snapped some photos of "the Mogee." She's still not quite sure of me....YET!!!

Nathan, Daniel, Sierra, and "GG!" on the paddle boat!

I don't know about you, but I truly believe that those two boys are personally bringing the life jacket's sexy back!

Waiting for the crew to come back from paddle boating!

Thanks for the great ZOO day family!

We can't wait to do it again real soon!

To you, My Blog Stalker

It has recently come to my attention that there are a lot of you out there who read my blog...but never let me know.

Can I just say that sometimes it would be nice to know that someone is reading this besides me, my husband, and my Mom.

If you are reading our blog...I'm happy.

To be honest, I mostly write this blog for me, and my hubby, and my kids. I want to preserve our memories. But, sometimes I write something for you, the reader.

It's hard writing to a nameless, faceless being. I like to know that there are those of you reading it, enjoying it, laughing at my kids, and my life like I do.

I guess what I am saying is say "HI!" Let me know you are out there...I would really love to have a blog friendship with you! :)

THE BIG 1-0!

Today my Baby girl turns 10!

WOW! That's an emotional statement.

It literally seems like very little time has passed since I was pregnant with her. It seems like a few days ago I was watching her march her way to her first day of school...confident and with purpose. She didn't want me to walk her in her classroom, she wanted to do it all by herself. She walked through the chain link fence, and didn't even look back. Paul and I just stood at the fence, clenching it, remembering HER, and all of the magical moments we had shared with her. We were both crying, and she was fine. I remember thinking I needed to savor every detail of that moment, and I did! It was also my first tangible glimpse at what being a mom was really going to be like. These moments are our progress reports. If our kids can walk through chain link fences into the unknown, confident and with purpose, then we are doing our job. 'Cause at the end of the day they were never really "ours" to begin with. Being a mom is always about preparing our kids to let go, and move up and on!

(she's the one with the light pink backpack, pants, and curled hair on the right hand side.)

Today, we hit another milestone! Today she turns 10! In 3 years she will be 13 and then in 3 more she will be dating. Time seems to be speeding up. I can't slow it down. It reminds me of a John Mayer song, "stop this train, I want to get off and go home again, I can't take the speed it's moving in..."

I think it's time to buckle my seat belt...I'm beginning to realize this parenting thing is gonna be an emotional ride.

WELL! Enough of that sappy crap!

I wanted to post a montage of Sierra pics...a walk down memory lane.
Mostly for Paul and I. But you can look too! :)

These are some of my favorite early pictures of my sweet baby girl!Sierra at the hospital!

Sierra and Paul.

Snacking

Most kids fight over snacks.

"Why does HE get that apple?"

"Where's MY cookie?"

"Can I have a String Cheese"

"He has more pretzels than me....I can tell!"

Don't get me wrong, my Kids fight over snacks too....

But today was special.....

we almost went to blows over who had more.....

FETA!!!
Yup! Feta

I believe I've said enough.

Mighty Machines!

Logan has become a singer of late, as noted by my previous post.

His latest song of choice is the theme song from the Mighty Machine Movies.

Which, as a side note, if you have boys ages 2-30 that like BIG, STRONG, MIGHTY MACHINES, this is the DVD for you!

But, I digress...

Logan usually sings the song in the back seat of the car in about as coherent a language as the previous post...a lot of high pitched sounds with the occasional perfectly pronounced "MIGHTY MACHINE!!" screamed at the top of his lungs.

This has, for some unknown reason, caused the rest of us to sing along with him. (we all learned the words while "MM" was on a continuous loop on our 24 hour drive to Utah last summer... it really is the gift that has kept on giving...)

This sing-along has also made us realize that this is possibly the stupidest theme song ever.

Why?

Well let me show you... follow along please.....

"Mighty Machines.... Big and Mighty Machines.

Working for you doing mighty things they're ( bum bum)...Mighty Machines...

Lifting and pulling and flying so high... lifting a building up to the sky...

YOU CAN WATCH THEM ALL DAY AND NEVER KNOW WHY THEY'RE.( BUM BUM) MIGHTY MACHINES..."

Does anyone really NOT know why these are considered MIGHTY machines?

And if not then Caterpillar, Boeing, Mack, etc. need to higher some new PR people......

We're just saying.....

Rocking Out to Willy!

*Note: I changed the setting on Youtube so hopefully you can now view the video!
Let me know if it works!!

Logan finished watching Willy this morning, and then proceeded to grab his microphone while the end credits ran.

I ran in, just in time to catch this:
please note the amazing, but subtle, bum shaking at around 35 seconds!

Austin Energy Regional Science Festival

On Saturday, Sierra had the opportunity to attend the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival.
Her project was selected as one of 3 to represent the 4th grade from her school.
She was the only girl selected from her grade!

She went early in the morning Saturday to talk to the judge about her project, and then back up to the Palmer Event Center for the awards ceremony later that afternoon!

The weather man from KXAN in Austin, was the master of ceremonies for the awards.
It was very official.

Sierra received a first place ribbon for her science fair project at the Festival.
My parents and brother came up to celebrate the event as well.
My brother, is sneaking? in this photo.
He is always doing some weird thing in photos, which I will miss something AWFUL while he is gone on his mission.
We could not be prouder of Sierra and all her hard work!

WE LOVE YA BABY GIRL!!!

Congrats to Ashley M. who also received a first place ribbon, AND the 2nd place overall for the Association of Women Engineers Award for 3rd grade!

WE LOVE YOU TOO!

WAY TO SHOW THAT STALLION SPIRIT LADIES!!!
