Forget Snow Angels!

On February 23, 2010 it did something amazing in Austin...it SNOWED!!
If you live in Austin you know this doesn't happen often. When it does it is rarely the kind of Snowball, snowman type snow. It's usually frozen slush (not fun at all), but this snow was different!

It was perfect!

When it first started to snow it was the LARGEST snowflakes I have ever seen, even Paul who grew up in Utah said they were huge ( that's how I know I wasn't just caught up in, "it's snowing in Texas amazement".) So we took a picture of ONE snowflake...see I told ya!

Logan and I then made a snowman....or as we nicknamed him, "SNOWBAT!"
We felt so clever!

Logan had enough after 15 minutes, and then needed to warm up....he's not accustomed to such temperatures!

Sierra got home from school later that afternoon and made her own snowman....or as she liked to call it "Snowkitty."

It was a lot of fun to be outside playing in the snow with the kids. I am the first one to tell you that I do NOT like snow...but this was the best kind. It snowed. It was beautiful. It melted.

Thanks for coming Snow...thanks for the memories....and thanks for leaving behind this beautiful weather in your wake! ( 56 and sunny) That's what I'm talking about!

Identity

Me: Logan you are so cute!

Logan: No I not!

Me: Oh! then you are handsome?

Logan: No!

Me: Then what are you?

Logan: I "ogan" I "free" ( I Logan, I three)

Apparently he's not moved by his cuteness yet, but I sure do want to bite those cheeks!

Totally Bragging...

and not sorry about it either!
You see my Hubby spoiled me something rotten on Valentine's Day.

It was one of those spoilings that you want to shout from the rooftops.
And I ain't climbing on my roof..so this blog will have to do!

So, long story short...everyone knows I love to cook!

I love to pretend that I am Rachael Ray..toiling away for 30 minutes in the kitchen, (and I try real hard to make it ONLY 30 minutes!)

I am no Rachael Ray BUT, I am one step closer to an even more plausible set on which to imagine..because my husband bought me....

THIS!!!!!

and THIS!!!

AND THIS!!!!!

All NEW Rachael Ray Cookware!

and to top it all off he even bought me NEW KNIVES!!!

I know, what says "I LOVE YOU!" more than new knives!?!

But, to me this was better than any chocolates, any roses, any Gerber daisies, or any movie!

This was Paul noticing what I LOVE to do, seeing that I needed an upgrade, and knowing that I would never in a MILLION years do it for myself, he stepped in and did it for me!

THAT my friends, is LOVE!!!

Love Austin!

Paul ran the Austin Half Marathon with my parents on Valentine's Day!

I didn't go or get any pictures because it was just me and the kids.

I wasn't up to fighting that crowd with the two by myself.

I was sad that I didn't get to stand on the street and shout people's names as they ran by...and..

I was a little sad not to see Paul cross the finish line with a time that beat his GOAL and set a new PERSONAL BEST!!

2:18:10

I was a little sad I didn't get to see my parents continue to kick some major trash with a time of 2:30:00

And after all that running, we had a fun and GREAT Valentine's Day!

I love ya Babe!
I love ya Mom and Dad!

HONK FOR HAITI

On Saturday, Sierra and her neighborhood friends Chloe and Arianna, were outside playing when one of them decided to make signs that read: HONK FOR HAITI.

I guess the premise was that every time one of the cars that passed our home honked, they would place their change that they had accumulated, and "donate" it to a jar that they would then donate to the American Red Cross.

It was not very successful at first, but they kept at it and soon many honked and one neighbor was so kind as to turn around and give the girls the $3 that he had on him. They were THRILLED!
Chloe then graciously donated $20 from her allowance and the girl's calculated a $24 collection for HONK FOR HAITI.

Sunday our Primary Presidency announced their service project this Saturday. Making care packages for the people of Haiti.

The girl's and I discussed and decided that instead of just giving their money to the Red Cross, that the girl's could use the money to make 3 care packages that would go directly to the hands of the people of Haiti.

Today after school I took the 3 girls to the dollar store where Chole donated more money telling me, "we have to help them right?" With that additional money the girls were able to make 6 care packages for the people of Haiti.

The care packages include:
4 sealed toothbrushes 2 combs
2 bars of soap 1 tube of toothpaste
2 hand towels

It may not seem like a lot was done to these girls ( I know they want to help more), but I sure was proud that Sierra and her friends decided to do something all on their own. And I know that it will make some one's day in Haiti.

It sure made mine
