Definition: a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry.
I don't like to discuss politics. I don't feel like it is
any one's business whom I vote for, but for the purposes of this post I am going to disclose. However, for future
reference, I am not one to walk around and wear my political agenda on my sleeve. But, because I am so stunned at how things have played out post-election I am disclosing. So here goes....
After much debate in my head and in my heart, and I mean
ALOT of debate, this was the man I voted for...

This is the man who is now our President Elect....
To be honest I think all of us knew that this would be the outcome. I am fine with that. I am nervous, I am unsure as to what this Presidency will bring, but I am okay with the outcome. The people spoke, in record numbers, and this is the people's choice.
But this post is not about politics as much as it is about tolerance.
I have always been taught that tolerance is being able to look someone in the eye that you disagree with and lovingly say.." We can agree to disagree."
This one little phrase does not admit defeat, it does not admit rightness or wrongness. It is a loving and gentle way of saying, " I disagree with you, but we can still love each other and work together." I do not yet feel this sentiment from those that supported and voted for Obama.
As a McCain Voter ( can not use the word supporter), I am frustrated with what the media and Obama supporters are saying right now.
For Example:
Elizabeth Hasselbeck on the view Wednesday, after they ask her about how she feels, says that she is excited that we have a black president and that she recognizes the significance of this moment in American History.
Media's Response later that night, and this is as much of a quote as I can remember ," Welcome Elizabeth, you finally have come to the RIGHT side."
WHAT!!!!
When did there become a RIGHT SIDE in an election!!!! There is your beliefs and my beliefs. Last I checked, we have debates, and candidates and parties let people know what the sides are....and then voters get to go in and vote for the man, or women, that lines up with their beliefs.
There is NO RIGHT SIDE!!!!
Tuesday night most people voted for Obama...it doesn't make it the right choice. Just as if McCain won it would not have been the RIGHT CHOICE.
AN ELECTION IS ABOUT THE POPULAR CHOICE!!!
We are all ready to jump aboard intolerance towards religion, or sex, or race. But where is the outrage for intolerance towards those that have different political views?
Why is it that I feel like I have to hang my head in shame and take vocal ridicule today? Why do I feel like even though I am holding out my hand and saying,"Let's agree to disagree," I am first having to have my hand slapped away and have someone say, "now you will see, you will see what we were all so RIGHT about!" All I'm asking is Where is the tolerance in that? Where is the symbolic hand across the aisle gesture I have heard so much about?
The country is already so divided...do we really think that this will help?
