Our '80s Summer!

No I am not talking about Sierra and I running around in side ponytails, legwarmers, and hot neon colors. I am talking about the indoctrination of my daughter to the fabulous films of the '80s. Now there may be some of you out there that do not share my sentiments on the following films, I don't mind. These are some of my favorite films of the '80s, and now Sierra as well.

I found myself crying and laughing just like the good ole' days. It is still one of my all time favorites! "Beverly Hills, what a thrill!" and "patches we don't need no stinking patches" are becoming part of my day-to-day language once again!
I love you Shelley Long!

I remember watching Mannequin and just loving all the funny shenanigans they got into, that and Hollywood is perhaps one of my favorite characters! Can I just say, however, that I was glad that my daughter was as clueless to the sexual innuendo as I was at that age. Oh My Goodness! That is an entirely different show if you get what they are talking about. Not a repeat choice until she is 18! But I still remembered why I loved it! Ignorance is bliss!

The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking came about when Sierra and I were talking about some fun books to read this summer! I suggested Pippi, and then told her that after we read the book there was a movie that we could see about getting from Netflix. Well, we only got halfway through the book, but we got the movie anyway. It was soooooo bad it was great! It was everything horrible about '80s movies, and I loved it for it!

Last, but certainly not least, is Labyrinth with David Bowie. As a child I remember being awestruck with the beauty of Jennifer Connolly ( to think she is now an Oscar winning actress, I knew she was destined for greatness!), I was not as crazy about the goblin king. I remember my mom telling me that David Bowie was so cute and sexy, yes she used that word, and thinking that I was very nervous for my mother. After watching it again I have to say that like always, mom was right. There is something about that man in light gray tights. That, or it is the "Power of Voodoo!"

A "Hairy" Situation!

Yesterday was not my favorite day! As a matter of fact it was one of "those" days. You all know what I am talking about.

Well, towards the end of my day from Haites, I find out that Sierra had done this to her hair.

This is the BEFORE shot!

This is AFTER!

I have to say that given my day, I responded calmly and rationally. Punishment was served, we talked out the reasoning, I stayed surprisingly calm. Can I just say though, I believe that hair is hair. It grows back. That, and she didn't cut it to the scalp. Thank Goodness! It was workable, and not as dramatic as it could have been.

We went and got it fixed this morning and the crapiest part of the whole thing is that the new cut is WAY cuter than what she had! She now has a cute cut-but she's still grounded! :)

She's lucky she's cute!

You Gotta Have Friends!

We have been friends with the Debenedettos for 5 1/2 years now. I have decided that nothing shows you what 5 years looks like until you look at old pictures. Time FLYS by- apparently at the speed of sound!

So, when searching my vast archive of pictures for my Father's Day tribute, I ran across pictures of Sierra with the Debenedetto kids. I had to post them- for Vicky, Kurt, Kurtis and Kirsti.
We love you! We miss you!
Oh! We miss the good ole' Vegas days!

Sierra and Kirsti at the Cinderella Pageant in 2005! Kirsti was crowned Miss Photogenic and Sierra was Miss Personality. They were so cute and we were so proud of them!

The "Egg-mazing Race 2004" was a huge hit!
I am sad I don't have pics of the events!

Happy Father's Day!

On this special day,
I would like to pay tribute to the important Men in my life.

My Dad, the first man I ever truly loved! I love you, Dad!

My Father-in-law, an infinite bowl of wisdom and fun. I love ya!

My brother, he will make an amazing Husband and Father some day.

He is already one heck of an uncle!

All my brother's-in-law, I would not be half as "titillating" without you all!

My son, you help lighten my days!

And finally, My dear husband, my best friend, my other half.
You are the greatest father to our children and more than a girl could ever ask for!

You make me smile, and laugh! I love sharing our life together!

I love you!

Happy Father's Day

Caution: Bragging Post Ahead!

I am going to brag! I don't usually use my blog as a way to brag about myself, but I can't help it! I also think that occasionally it is important to acknowledge, to yourself at least, when you do something amazing! I'm just telling myself and anyone reading this blog. (Hey! I warned ya!)

Today I went and bought my kids a play kitchen. I then brought it home and assembled the whole thing by myself. I even used a power drill. I am slightly banged up. I injured myself a couple of times, ( it was an injury- blood was involved) but I did it. It took a couple of hours and some intense patience, but the kids love it,
SUCCESS!

I Love Bad Summer Television!

Thank You writers strike!

Why?

Because without it we would not have these gems coming to T.V. on June 24th.

Let me explain.

I LOVE Japanese game shows. MXC, hilarious. Ninja Warrior, shut it! Priceless gems if you ask me! I always wanted them to bring them to America in some way- I knew it would happen, but only if absolutely necessary.

Insert writers strike. Insert my joy!

First up a total knock off of MXC, Wipeout! I hope it is as good!

Next, I survived a Japanese Game Show! I love the premise. It is all original. They are actually competing in Japan in a real Japanese game show! I can not wait!

You can all thank me later!

EESE Mom!

Logan came in the other day saying, "Esse Mom, Esse!" I looked over and he was carrying our old, busted camera. He stopped, glued it to his forehead and again persisted, "Eese Mom, Eese!" Of Course I obliged and allowed him to take a picture or two of his fabulously hot momma! I then asked if he would like me to return the favor. He loves to have his picture taken. He is a poser, he loves to smile at the camera and pull different faces and moves. I was able to catch a shot of him snapping my picture, and then he did this pose. I have never seen it before. It kind of
reminds me of a mutant frog! I love it because it shows his goofy,
silly side! Oh! My little love bug!

John and Kate Plus 8!

Sierra and I have a new obsession. Every morning from 10:00-11:00 we turn on the TV and watch John and Kate plus 8 on TLC. The show follows the life of the Gosselins a family of ten. John and Kate wanted to have kids, but could not, so they turned to fertility. The first round they had twin girls, now 7ish. Then they tried for one more and got 6! 3 girls, and 3 boys. ( now 4) Sierra and I love to watch the older girls interact with the younger ones, mom and dad interact with the kids, and mom and dad with each other. I love how real they are, how Kate says things that most people would not- remind you of anyone?- and how funny John and Kate are together. You can tell how much they all love each other and how hard they are working to make it work. Most of all I love spending time on the couch, snuggled up to my own little ones! To see a hilarious clip of Kate potty training click this link: http://tlc.discovery.com/beyond/?playerId=203711705&categoryId=210014208&lineupId=252316881&titleId=932592635
