My One-Syllable Wonder!

Logan is 2 1/2 and we are still getting used to "Logan Speak," but this much I have figured out.

Logan speaks in one syllables.

If it isn't a one-syllable word, he just leaves off all the other syllables. Who needs um?

There is also no rule as to which syllable he will choose from the word.

For instance:

Logan: Duh
Translation: Duck

Logan: Saur
Translation: Dinosaur

Logan: Ham
Translation: Hamburger

Now he does GREAT with one-syllable words. Like: NO!, Mom, Dad, go, etc.
But, his sentences are sometimes IMPOSSIBLE to understand. It took me literally 20 minutes yesterday to figure out that,

"Mom, wa eas!"

Translated to,

" MOM, WAFFLE PLEASE!"

Someone help me!

It has a Name!!

So I was asked last night at my Relief Society Enrichment Night if we had decided on a name for the Kitten we got.

First thought, "Why yes, we did name the kitty."

Second thought, "People actually read this thing?"

So, I thought I would post the kittens name.....

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.......

Pelé!!!

We decided to go with this name for the following reasons.

1) It is a unusual name for a cat.

2) Pelé is the name of the " King of Soccer," and since our cat is black and white and looks like a soccer ball it fits.

This is a picture of the real Pele, doesn't he look "King-ly"

3) Our Pelé loves playing with balls and is an amazing forward in our family matches!

There you have it, we are now a named family of 5, and we couldn't be happier. Well, we would if the cat would stop trying to give me wet willies. But that is for another time....

Pièce De Résistance

Logan has a Sister! This is not uncommon knowledge but every once in a while, Logan will do something that reminds us all of the impact Sierra has in his daily life.

Usually it involves him watching Sponge bob Square pants over Sesame Street, or Logan dancing to the High School Musical Soundtrack instead of Imagination Movers.

Today it was Logan's wearing of Necklaces.
But, they weren't any necklaces.
It was a manly take on a feminine feel.

Dare I say it is was DIY Chic.

First look was the cell phone car charger.

Next we tried the yellow tape measure- fully extended for optimum use.
Pros: tape measure can be used as both a necklace AND a sword!
and finally the pièce de résistance.....both.
For that layered look!

Watch out Christian Serrano, Logan's looking FIERCE!

Meet "?"!

Meet the newest addition to our family!

We have yet to decide on a name for the little guy. But the names, Donovan, Yogi, Pelay, Oliver, and Krispin have all been thrown around.

So go ahead, give us your vote.

Who is this little guy?

On a related note, Logan had a "tragic incident" with the cat in the first 15 minutes of him being home. The cat "play pounced" on his foot, claws in, and scared the crap out of him.

This is how Logan solved the problem:

A laundry hamper as a protective bubble!

He wanders around the house balancing it on his head, and when the cat walks by, " verging on pouncing", Logan squats and covers himself with his protective bubble.

I love my kids!

Nature vs. Nurture?

Sierra decided that what she wanted for her birthday more than anything in the whole world was a cat! She has been wanting a cat for over a year, and yes the hermit crabs have all bit the dust, so the timing was perfect.

We had a family meeting and decided that it would be a great thing, but there were some things that Paul and I wanted her to do first- you know- to test the commitment waters a little!

We told her that she needed to go online, with our help, and research cats. She was then to write a paper on things to look for when adopting a cat. Things like, how to tell if it is healthy, what gender is right for you, what age, what personality traits to look for, etc. Sierra agreed, ( crap), and went right to work. She then wrote her paper and presented it to us, orally. I would like to dictate to you all, the best part of the presentation.

Sierra: A boy would be best for us. Also, he should be around 3-4 months old. Old enough so that they have been NURTURED.

Paul and I: What?

Sierra: Nurtured, I am not sure what that means but that is what it says, to have them Nurtured.

Me: ( Realizing that she is talking about them being Neutered) Yes! Our cat will most definitely need to be Nurtured.

Sierra: What do they mean when they say it needs to be Nurtured?

Paul: We will talk about it later.

I am happy to say that we did find a cat, we adopted him, and he will come home on Tuesday!

He had to stay at the pound for some "Nurturing!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

In honor of Sierra's 9th birthday, I am going to list 9 things that I love about her. There are more than 9 but than this post would be a novel....so, I have narrowed it done to 9!

1) Sierra is a tender heart. She is accepting and kind to everyone, and everything!

2) Sierra has a sweet testimony of the Savior, and she has no fear when it comes to standing up for something she believes in.

3) Sierra is funny! She says the most hilarious stuff! I love that!

4) Sierra is determined. When she makes her mind up, you better help her- or get out of her way!

5)Sierra is a leader, and a kind one at that!

6) Sierra is smart and a great learner. She gets so excited when she figures something out that she has been working on.

7) Sierra is a fantastic big sister. I absolutely love how she interacts with Logan. It is a gift.

8) Sierra has the best laugh! I love to hear her laugh, it is music to my ears.

9) Sierra lives life. Sierra will try anything at least once. Sierra also doesn't pay attention to who is watching her, or what they think of her. I hope that she carries that with her, through her tween and teen years. I tend to think she will!

I love you Sierra!
Thanks for being Mine!

It is also my Dad's Birthday Today!

He is the best DAD in the whole world! He is also the best GRANDPA in the WHOLE WORLD, so Sierra loves sharing her day with him.

Frankly, it is unfair because whenever we have family votes on the best day to have a Birthday, March 11, always seems to win! :)

But, Seriously,

I love you Daddy!
Have a great day!

This weekend we went to Houston to see my brother's Eagle Court of Honor. We were really excited to go, and it was a wonderful night. We were able to see old friends and meet some new friends as well. It was a great night.

I am really going to miss that kid when he leaves in a year for his mission!

I guess the only other info worth mentioning is that I ran a 5k ( 3.2 miles)with my parents on Saturday. I have run some in the past- not very well mind you, and I am currently training to run a 10k ( 6.2 miles) so I needed to run at least 3 miles on Saturday! My parents ran with me- they actually ran the 10k option- leaving me and my I-pod all by our lonesomes at mile 1. I was pretty nervous to run it by myself. It is really easy to give up and walk when you know no one is with you to make sure you do it! But, I stuck it out and ran the whole way! I ended up finishing in 38:43! That is really and truly my best race time yet, so YEAH ME!!! It was a really fun run to do, the runners "kicked off" the parade for the Rodeo, so we got to run part of the parade route through downtown Houston. They NEVER close off downtown Houston for runs so that was very cool, and we raised money for the scholarships that the Houston Rodeo gives out every year!! A great race, with great people, on a great day!

There my braggin' session is now DONE!!!
