Jane Austen Quiz

My Sister-in-law suggested that we take a Jane Austen quiz to find out which heroine we are most like. Here are my results:

Logan's Pink Purse

After I told Logan that it was time to pick Sierra up from school, he asked for the keys ( like he always does) and then disappeared to my room. I went and got my purse and when I went to find him he was walking out of my room with this pink purse. He then informed me that it was "go, rare ra!" This loosely translates into "Let's go get Sierra." My Silly, Silly Son! It is amazing what they decided to mimic!

The Great Debate

It seems to me that the "great debate" of the last few years has been,

"Who is the better Mr. Darcy?"

Some like to kick it old school and say that it is Collin Firth in the 6 hour epic. While others swear by the new man, Matthew Macfadyen.

I am happy to admit that I may now weigh in on this debate. I finally watched the 6 hour epic, shortly after watching the 2005 version so both are fresh in my mind!

My verdict is this:
While I love Collin Firth and find him irresistibly charming, it pains me to say that I prefer the passion that I found in the 2005 version. I loved the epic 6 hour long version, don't get me wrong, but I had a hard time believing some of the other cast members in their roles.

Now you weigh in,

Who is your Mr. Darcy?

Goodnight Stories

We have a family routine for putting Sierra to bed at night. Tonight we were running a little early so, I decided to let Sierra read a story in her bed. Logan saw her and decided that he needed to be in bed with her. He snuggled right up next to her and listened to her read the story. He is her little shadow. He is over-the-moon happy when she comes home, and follows her around from 3:00- 8:30 p.m. daily. Sierra is very patient and kind and allows him to follow her around all afternoon! She loves to take care of her little "buddy" as she lovingly calls him. I love these two!

SOS Air

So last weekend I ran my first "offical" 5K. I went down to Houston and My Mom, my Sister, and I all ran the Mothers For Clean Air- Earth Day 5K. It was all very Earth friendly. Our shirts were printed on 100% organic cotten, there was organic and heathful food after the race, and instead of trophies and medals they gave out Texas Laurels. It was a lot of fun. It was a small race, only 300 runners maybe. I finished it. I ran almost the whole way. I did walk for maybe 1/6th of a mile of the 3.2 mile course. I finished in 43 minutes. I will say I am slightly dissapointed with my time. I realized at the end that I could have been going faster the whole time. It was a little bit of a bummer! Good news is that I am now training to run another 5K on May 10th, The Chuy's Hot to Trot here in Austin. So, I will let you know how that goes.

My Mom, my Sister and myself after the race. There were pictures of me running, but I am not posting that nonsence up on this blog.

I want to maintain my friendships.

P.S. my Mom did not win the Texas Laurel you see here. We waited around until they were giving away the extras. But- I do want to say that she finished seconds behind the women who did place in her age bracket. GO MOM! If you would have just given them the "people's elbow" like we rehearsed!

Revenge is Sexy!

Last week my Brother in Law ( who I love dearly) thought it would be funny to send a Cutco knife guy to my house. I did not find it as funny, since I had to avoid my house for 3 hours so that I would not have to visit with said Cutco man. I told him that revenge would be sweet. I told him that I would be looking for the perfect thing to do. And then he provides me with this! This is a video that he let me take willingly- I did not force him to do this. Ah! Revenge is Sexy!

*for optimum funny- play "I'm Too Sexy" on my playlist before you press play on the screen!

G&G Ostler come to A-Tex!

Paul's parents came into town last weekend for Sierra's Baptisim. We had so much fun with them. Here are some of the highlights:

We took them to Flip Happy Crepes, a total hippy dive in downtown Austin for some Crepes. We know how much Paul's parents love crepes so we had to take them there. It was
yummy! We had both savory and sweet crepes. OH LA LA!

On Sunday afternoon we took a drive to find some Bluebonnets. They came at the perfect time of year. The Bluebonnets are beautiful now and we really enjoyed taking pictures in them. Here is Paul's Mom with the kids. I bet you can see which side of them family is the 80% genetic split!
Paul's Parents were so cute when we wanted to take pictures of them in the Bluebonnets. They are so wonderful! You can see how much they love each other! We love them too!
And then it turned south. We have the evidence Dad!
No really, it was an amazing vacation and we had such a great time with them! We laughed and played and just spent time together! It was the perfect weekend! Priceless! Thanks for coming out and visiting us Mom and Dad we love you! See you in July!

Congratulations!

Backyard Visitor

Paul came running to our bedroom window this morning while mowing the lawn and shouted that there was something I had to see. I threw aside the laundry I was working on and ran out back. Imagine my surprise when I turned the corner and found this:

This, my friends is a water turtle ( thanks Gina for helping me identify). One of the fun things about living in Round Rock backing up to a green belt is all the wildlife we have seen. So far we have seen a deer, a couple Gardner snakes, a water turtle, and I had a pleasant conversation with a Mockingbird. Oh! and the wild and fierce neighborhood cats. The turtle by far has been my favorite! It was pretty big and fast. It hung out by the AC unit while Paul finished mowing the backyard. Logan and I checked him out for a minute, but I think Logan was unsure as to why we were so enamored with a rock. When Paul came back to look for him after he put everything away he was gone. I will miss our friend the Water Turtle. I wish him well in all his adventures! Just watch out for green sludge!

Reality Sucker!

I am ready to admit that I am a Reality Show Sucker. I get Sucked into them all. Not all of them but a good bit of them. I realized that I am currently into the following shows. Some are not on right now, but they are set to record when they come back on.

American Idol
America's Next Top Model
The Amazing Race
Hells Kitchen
Top Chef
Project Runway
Dancing with the Stars
So You Think You Can Dance?

Maybe I don't feel as bad because I record them and watch them in half the time. But seriously, perhaps this is too much!?!

"Free to be Me!"

Sierra had her 2nd grade performance on Thursday night. She was fantastic as usual. Here is the video of her classes song, " I wanna be a baker!" She is the last one on the left.

NKOTB

You can all call me crazy! You can all roll your eyes and think, "Is she really excited about this?" I don't care! Why? Because we all know that you 20 and 30 somethings were all running around, hearts a pitter-pattering, when you heard that NKOTB might get back together for a tour. Well, they have not announced anything, but, they did release this photo. I am just going to say that if they sound as good as they look we are in for a treat! NKOTB was a HUGE part of my 4th grade year at SugarMill Elementary ( shout out to Ms. Hancock). My friends and I would go to each other's homes after school and rehearse our song and dances. Laugh all you want. I can take it! I can honestly say I love them. They are my Van Halen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Barbara- whatever. I hear "Hanging Tough" and I am immediately transported to a better time. Rock on NKOTB, and please tour one of the major cities in Texas. Oh, and they are going to be on the Today show tomorrow to make a big announcement. TiVO is my new BFF!
