Logan's Favorite New Phrase.

Logan has been very blog worthy of late.

You see, Logan is speaking more, and more importantly, he is speaking to other people. To illustrate this point I give you the following conversation Paul had with Logan's Nursery leader yesterday after church!

Logan's Nursery Teacher: Logan spoke to us today!

Paul: Really?

Logan's Nursery Leader: Yes! Three words. We are so excited!

As a side note, Logan has been in this nursery for the last year. He has never before spoken to them. He speaks at home, but never at nursery, and hardly at all if we are not at home. He is known at nursery as the "silent sufferer" and frankly the name fits!
However, after being in several playgroups now, and going to different homes and being around other talking kids and their mom's, I think he is now finally learning that talking has it's benefits...like the following phrase..his new favorite.

"IT'S NOT FAIR, MOM!"

That's right! I can only blame Sierra for this nugget of wisdom that she has imparted to her brother. and everything is NOT FAIR.

His shirt is up his back in his car seat- NOT FAIR
His movie won't come on- NOT FAIR
He has to go to bed- NOT FAIR
He can't put on his shoes- NOT FAIR
He trips- NOT FAIR
His food is hot- NOT FAIR

as you can see there are some context issues but for the most part he has it down pat!

Here's to hoping that he can articulate many more of the unfair things that happen in his life!

Our "WHAT THE?" Moment of the Day!

Paul was making himself some eggs for breakfast this morning...when he got the most horrified/startled/ surprised/confused look on his face...

1 egg, 2 yolks

which leaves the following Question:

Can chickens have twins?

How Many Licks?

My favorite candy is Tootsie Roll Pops. I LOVE them. I steal them from my children's Trick or Treat Candy. I steal them from my children's party bags from Birthday Parties.

Essentially, I am a thief of Tootsie Roll Pops. You have one and I will beg, borrow, or steal to get it. (I'm not proud, but it's the truth. )

BUT... the other day I found something -something so MONUMENTAL that it has changed my life!!!!

They now have Tootsie Roll Pop Drops!

WHAT!?!?!

I know, it's a Tootsie Roll Pop with out the STICK!!!

Why? oh! Why? did it take you so long Mr. Owl to come up with this treat of AMAZING!

No worries though Mr. Owl. We're still cool! I have forgiven you.
For you have provided me with a sweet treat that is only 60 calories for 4. That's right 4! And for me that is more than enough!

And to those of you on Mindy's 12 week game of torture...I mean 12 weeks to a better you....you're welcome!
and sense I am nice like that, H.E.B. has them on sale for $.99 a bag! And it's resealable!

So, Go! What are you waiting for?

Goodbye First Love!

Last night I opened my computer to check my email ( and the latest gossip on the Kanye West, Taylor Swift fiasco) to see that Patrick Swayze had past away from Pancreatic Cancer. I was stunned. I did an audible {gasp}. It took me a moment to compose myself.

You see, Patrick Swayze is my first, and only, Hollywood crush.

I saw Dirty Dancing when I was 10 and I was IN LOVE!!! My Grandpa Coombs obviously noticed after the 30th time I watched it at his house and made me a copy of it....

I made all my friends watch it with me....

My friend Kelly and I, paused the movie on his bum- when he got out of bed and you got a brief glimpse of it. We watched that part over and over, until we paused it just right....that was a GREAT MOMENT!!! :)
I watched that movie until it wasn't watchable anymore...

I squealed in Circuit City when I found it 15 years later, with my 6 year old daughter next to me, in the $5 bin. I bought it, this time on DVD!

I watched it and fell in love all over again.
I watched him in Ghost, and wanted him to teach me how to work a pottery wheel.
I watched him in "To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar," and loved him because he could work a evening gown with some amazing pectoral muscles.

And I was sad when I heard the news that he had cancer...
I have been telling myself that this day would come.. so I'm not devastated.... but I am sad...my first love has gone to a better place...

So, Thanks Patrick Swazye for some great child hood memories...thanks for your dancing... and thanks for letting me crush on you!

I will miss you!

Rain where it hasn't rained in so long. Well, not like this and not for this long. We have had rain almost every day this week. We are now getting soaked with rain...and I could not be happier....

and I have to take my two kids grocery shopping in it...and I am still smiling...because it is Raining!

I LOVE RAIN!!!!!

"Mo-Skeeteer" Bites

This weekend we went to Houston....where they have infinitely more mosquitos than we do in Austin. Thanks BATS!!! I am grateful for that! So is Sierra!

You see, Sierra is unfortunately, a very tasty treat for the 'skeeteers. She gets bit every time, AND every time she gets bit there is a 3 day itchy whine that follows...it's what I would call..."GOOD TIMES!"

This weekend, as you can tell, was no exception. Sierra arrived in Houston and literally 2 hours later the bites were discovered and the whining began.... we did everything we could to help her with the itch...many products were used. Moderate success was achieved.

Let's Fast Forward...

Last night we rolled in around 11:30 at night. The kids had been asleep. They get out of the car...Sierra disappears. I find her in my bathroom rubbing cream on her bites...great! I go to the bathroom, I walk out and something doesn't seem right.... I ask Sierra, "what are you rubbing on your bites?" She replies, " anti-itch cream" and proceeds to point to some VAGISIL she dug out of some drawer.... NICE!!!

I love having to explain to my 9 year old the difference between anti-tich cream, and "anti-itch cream"

Carpal Tunnel

I have just finished filling out, or signing 6 papers for Sierra's school. I have written 2 checks. I am now going to ice my right hand. It hurts!
